A man in Florida is in critical condition after a dispute with a 44-year-old acquaintance turned violent, resulting in a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred during an argument over a woman at a mutual friend's house on the early morning of Wednesday, Jan. 17, as reported by the Holly Hill Police Department.
Christopher Hastings, 33, and the 44-year-old engaged in a heated altercation, which escalated when Hastings produced a firearm. The confrontation spilled outside, culminating in Hastings shooting the other man in the head. Subsequently, the victim, undeterred by his severe injury, walked nearly a mile and a half to a friend's residence to seek assistance.
Upon reaching his friend's home, the victim promptly contacted the police. Responding officers swiftly identified Hastings and apprehended him within eight minutes of the initial call. The firearm suspected to have been used in the incident was also secured by the police.
The injured man is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital and is classified as being in serious condition. Hastings, on the other hand, has been taken into custody and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and tampering with evidence. He is now in the custody of the Volusia County Branch Jail.
