Days after "General Hospital" actor Johnny Wactor was tragically shot and killed in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, his ex-fiancée, Tessa Farrell, is calling on LA officials to address the escalating crime in the city.
"This isn't OK. This can't keep happening," Farrell expressed in a video posted on social media Monday. "So many lives are being lost… we need to be smarter as a community. We have to stop being so mean to each other. Let's love each other, let's not steal."
Reflecting on Wactor, who portrayed Brando Corbin on the soap opera from 2020 to 2022, Farrell said, "Johnny's above now, looking down. I'm happy to think he found happiness before he went because that was his dream. Through his fans, his work, and his friends, he was so popular and fun. He was a bright soul who lit up the room. He had his flaws but always sought to improve himself."
Farrell, who met Wactor in 2013, noted they hadn't seen each other in years. "We brought out the best and the darkest in each other," she said. "Our lives were forever changed."
"It's heartbreaking that crime in LA took him from us. He cared so much about doing the right thing and earning what he had," she continued. "I'm proud of the man he became.
These criminals can't keep roaming the streets without repercussions."
Addressing the perpetrator, Farrell said, "If you're watching, I'm sorry, but you shot the wrong guy. You can get a real job. We don't have to steal or take lives. Human life is too easily disregarded. We need to support each other and come together. Maybe that's Johnny's gift to us."
Farrell also shared a personal message, "Johnny, if you're watching from above, I love you and am very proud of you. You inspired me and taught me so much. Thank you, Johnny. I miss you and hope your last moments were peaceful."
"We need to find these killers," she concluded. "Johnny was a rising star and a bright soul. We can't keep losing people because we're afraid to stand up for what's right. Johnny always did."
A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Johnny Wactor's mother, Scarlett Wactor, confirmed his death to Fox News Digital on May 26. She explained that Johnny and a co-worker had stayed late at a rooftop bar to clean and were heading to their cars around 3 or 3:30 a.m. when the incident occurred.
"They were walking to their car, and when they got there, Johnny's car looked like it was jacked to one side. He asked, 'Hey, man, are you towing my car?' The person, wearing a mask, then shot him," Scarlett said.
She noted that there was no designated parking for employees. "If he’d been two minutes earlier or later, he’d be alive," she reflected.
TMZ first reported the news, stating that authorities have not confirmed Wactor's identity but that the incident aligns with a reported case of three suspects attempting to steal a catalytic converter. Descriptions of the suspects have not been released.
Johnny Wactor, who played Brando Corbin on "General Hospital," appeared in 164 episodes from 2020 to 2022. His mother said the authorities are planning an autopsy, and the family will bring him back to South Carolina for funeral services.
"They took a great human being, leaving a large hole in me and his brothers' lives," Scarlett Wactor shared. "We buried my husband, their dad, four years ago. Johnny was very loved, optimistic, and positive. He wasn’t trying to stop them; he would have given them the car. They were cowardly. I hope there's justice for Johnny. It's going to be a very long road without him for me and his brothers."
