‘Beetlejuice 2’ Trailer: Jenna Ortega Revives Michael Keaton’s Iconic Troublemaker in Stunning New Clips

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new trailer for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 comedy-horror classic. Michael Keaton reprises his role as the irreverent, shape-shifting ghost, joined by new cast members Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux. Returning from the original film are Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.

In “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the Deetz family returns to their Winter River home following an unexpected death in the family. Lydia’s (Ryder) rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega), stumbles upon a portal to the afterlife hidden in the basement. Inevitably, Beetlejuice's name is called out three times, unleashing his chaotic presence in the Deetz household once more.

“The living, the dead… can they coexist? That’s what we’re here to find out,” Lydia (Ryder) says in the trailer.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is the latest horror project for scream queen Jenna Ortega, who has become a staple in the genre. She previously starred in the Netflix series “Wednesday” as the titular Addams family member, as well as in Ti West’s “X” and the recent “Scream” reboots. However, Ortega will not return for “Scream 7” due to a scheduling conflict with “Wednesday” Season 2.

Tim Burton returns as producer and director for the “Beetlejuice” sequel, working from a script by “Wednesday” screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Executive producers include Brad Pitt, David Katzenberg, Laurence Senelick, Gough, Millar, Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, and Andrew Lary. Producers Tommy Harper, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner are also on board, with Danny Elfman composing the film’s music.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will hit theaters on September 6. Watch the trailer below.
